Seriously, the universe isn’t out to get you.

Ok, I’ll be up front about something. This one may come off a little more “tough love” than most. So, you’ve been at least somewhat warned.

Here’s the deal the universe is not out to get you! It’s really not! Think about it. How many times have you said, or heard someone say “why is this happening to me?” Probably more than you can remember. But, guess what. Nothing is happening TO you! Things are just happening.

Why is this important? Well, when you think that things are happening TO you it sets you up with a built in excuse and insinuates that you have no control over the situation and that there’s nothing you can do about it. Let me be clear, that’s a cop out!

The reality is that things happen. Things are going to continue to happen. They just aren’t happening TO you. When they do happen it’s not a personal slight from the universe. It’s not some cosmic commentary on what kind of a person you are. Seriously, things just happen. Now, that doesn’t mean that your actions didn’t play a part in the causation of the situation, but the event isn’t a punishment from the ethers of infinity, it’s a learning opportunity!

Now for the brutally honest part. I have never encountered a situation in my life nor observed a situation in someone else’s that was in any way made better by sitting around feeling sorry about their circumstances, begging the question “why do these things always happen to me?”. Not one single time. Why? Because there is zero forward movement there.

Seriously, what I really want to say here is so simple. I felt like I needed to prep the objective a little bit before I just came out and said it. What is it? KNOCK IT OFF AND GET YOUR STUFF TOGETHER!

Stop remaining stagnant. Stop sitting around feeling sorry for your circumstances. Stop blaming the universe for what is “happening to you”. Get up, get yourself together, and go make something happen. You can always effect something about the situation. No matter how bad it may seem. Even if you can’t change the outcome, you can plan for how to deal with it.

Get up every day with intention! Quit thinking the universe is happening to you and get out there and happen to the universe!
